Similar to US Laws, many countries have different regulations and rules when it comes to legally getting married in a forign country. This begs the question, "How do I make our destination wedding nuptiuals legal?"

There are a number of avenues you can choose to take with destination weddings. You can elect to have a civil ceremony in a court house and exchange vows in your desired wedding location. You can also choose to have a ceremony in another country and then have an American embassy or consulate authenticate your union. Or, you can follow country laws to ensure this process is legal.
There are some things you may want to keep in mind for your ceremony, when getting married in another country:
1) You can ALWAYS call the US Embassy in the country where you intend to wed and ask about any specific requirements. Many countries require blood tests, visas and approvals so make sure to have all your ducks in a row before you go!
2) Some countries require vaccinations in order for your to visit and this too takes time. You can check the CDC for an easy list of what your destination needs.
3) Make sure you know when your passport expires! Many countries have regulations about how long your passport is valid in order to enter the country. Governmet websites can help you easily check our your desinations travel requirements.
