Ever since "The Wedding Planner" with Jennifer Lopez, wedding planner's careers have been seen as glamorous and fabulous! Though this is true, there is a lot of hard work behind the scenes that makes those perfect wedding days...perfect.

As a mom of an 8 month old, 2 crazy pups AND owner of Em Devaud Events, life gets pretty crazy! I am also an avid marathoner, kick-boxer and a baker. With all of these plates in the air, many have asked, "How do you do it, Em?" Well the simple answer is coffee-- it is ALWAYS coffee!!! Kidding... though it is a tough work/life balance.

On any given day there are countless emails, various phone calls and behind the scene edits that are taking up most of my time. I generally break my day into 4 parts:

1) The Emails-- I set aside certain times every day to run through my inbox to ensure no email gets overlooked

2) The Calls-- I try to arrange these at the most quiet times during the day to ensure 100% focus on my clients

3) The Personal Life--Yes...even wedding planners have ton do the laundry

4) and The Timelines-- This is the time when I comb through my client timelines ensure that they are accurate and correct

Because every day brings with it both structure and surprises, flexibility is key! Sometimes I have to answer emails with my son on my lap or skip my Personal Life altogether :-)

The most paramount value to me, as a business owner, is having clients who are well taken care of and happy. So making myself available to my brides is a huge value in my life. My husband always jokes that my clients are more like my "bride babies" and I like to take care of them as I would my own munchkin.

When it comes down to it, a true day in the life of a planner involves, a lot of passion, some well timed phone calls and a yes...a lot of coffee :-)
